Emilio Veronese is a Captain and Chief Engineer, born in Chioggia – Venice, of a long family tradition of nautical navigation and marine fishing. He has over thirty years’ experience within the commercial and yachting industry.
He started as deckhand in the fishing department and quickly worked his way up the ranks as a Captain and a Chief Engineer of 130 feet family owned deep sea fishing vessels.
During each year’s seasonal fishery closure Emilio returned to his first passion of sailing: in fact, since 1990 Emilio sailed as a self-taught with his family and young son on their Comet 850 sailing boat, cruising every summer from Chioggia to Croatia, gaining a strong knowledge and familiarity of the Croatian coastline and terroir.
After working as a professional fisherman for 24 years, in 2004 Emilio took a position as Chief Engineer onboard Perini Navi ‘La Numero Uno’, following the refit and passionately participating to a round-the- world voyage, successfully managing all engineering aspects, involving himself also with navigation and sail systems operation.
Ever since, Emilio definitively quit deep sea fishing, turning to the super yacht industry, holding various roles, from Chief Engineer to Captain, as well as completing many shipyard periods as Client Project Manager and Consultant, managing refits and new builds of motor and sailing yachts.
Emilio has a great passion for the sea, in his free time he competes in many sailing regattas, from dinghies to yachts as trimmer, helmsman, tactician. Lately he enjoys practicing his recent passion for radio controlled helicopters. He has always been intrigued by raw materials such as wood and metals, particularly by titanium’s exceptional features.
‘One of the greatest strengths about being a Captain with a strong engineer background is that not only one can operate the navigation aspects, yet one can also fully understand, participate and even lead all technical aspects of the yacht’.
